Brooklyn-based artist and musician, Kyle Wilson, found collage through the need to create during the drudgery and isolation of Covid in 2020. He scours thrift shops and the streets of New York, searching for captivating visuals in forgotten and neglected books and magazines to repurpose for his handmade art. With a love of vintage fantasy, sci-fi and horror, Wilson uses repositionable glue sticks, exacto knives and his trusty red scissors to build new worlds from these found images.
SHWILSON initially was born out of a need to break through his traditional jazz background and reconnect with music as a source of play, using vintage synths, drum machines and Casio keyboards (LISTEN HERE).
SHWILSON collage and music are intertwined and aim to serve the common goal of creating colorful, joyous and intriguing new connections in the viewer’s/listener’s mind.
